I write about China’s political economy at home and abroad, especially in Latin America.

I have on the ground experience in Beijing (rural policy and migrant labor) and Bogotá (infrastructure and transport), with other experience across the Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Washington. My formal background in genetics and molecular biology (NYU, UNC) is an admittedly unusual path that informs my approach to technical and diplomatic questions.
